Tell us about yourself: your name, background, relevant experience, how many years you’ve been with the company or in the industry.
I’m Sydney Stout Valla and I’ve been with ofi for over seven years. I got my start as a Supply Chain Management Trainee and have held roles in product management and sales too.
What is your role at Spices by ofi and what does your day-to-day look like?
My official title is eCommerce Operations Manager. My daily tasks include keeping inventory and pricing up-to-date as well as working with the marketing team to decide what products to highlight. We have a small team, so sometimes you can find me answering questions on our live chat!
Do you have a customer success story that you feel proud to have been part of?
We had a customer come in over chat who needed a full truckload of product as soon as possible. We were able to work together with our warehousing team and customer operations team to make sure that everything from customer creation to pickup went smoothly and ofi delivered the product within our lead time!

Is there a Spices by ofi product you would call your favorite?
I got my start in the business as a supply planner for purees, so I will always have a soft spot for those products. My favorite item that I use day-to-day is black pepper! I love a peppery hamburger fresh off the grill or adding flavor to salad dressings.
Saving the spicy questions for last, what is your preferred level of spice in Scoville heat units (SHU) and what chile pepper would that be?
I’m a wimp when it comes to spice - but I’m trying to get better! I love the flavor of chipotle – mixing it in with ketchup for a spicy kick or sprinkling it over protein for tacos.
